On the occasion of World Ocean Day, the Institute of Oceanology - BAS, Varna organizes a special event in the Sea Garden of Burgas.
The initiative aims to draw attention to the importance of the seas and oceans and to encourage the implementation of responsible practices in the protection of the biodiversity and natural resources of the Black Sea with the active participation of society.
The inquisitive children of Burgas, as well as all those concerned about nature, will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with various oceanographic instruments and their application for monitoring the marine environment, sampling methods and evaluation of various groups of marine plants and animals.
Special attention will be paid to the current challenges facing the Black Sea - climate change, eutrophication, invasive species, overfishing, habitat loss, marine litter and others.
The young visitors will be presented with the comic book "Journey with the Ocean Observers", in which the main characters are various oceanographic instruments, and the book <с>"The Invisibles in the Black Sea"с>, prepared by the scientists biologists and ecologists from IO-BAS, illustrated with numerous photographs, among which a significant part are shots of the underwater photographer Lyubomir Klisurov.

On June 8, "Flora" Exhibition Center Burgas, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The initiative takes place within the framework of the "Black Sea Blue Academy 2025" project, with the support of OMV Petrom.
Partners in the initiative are the Municipality of Burgas, Regional Information Center - Burgas, Association "Green Balkans" and SNC "Friends of the Sea - Burgas", which will present interactive panels on marine and environmental literacy.
