The Municipality of Burgas received an award in the ranking of "Standart" newspaper - "Wonders of Bulgaria", in the category "Attraction of Bulgaria for the last 15 years". The prize is for the island of St. Anastasia, which during this period became not only an attractive cultural and historical site, but also an active art scene.
On behalf of the Municipality of Burgas, the Deputy Mayor for Culture and Religion Diana Savateva accepted the award. The awards in the "Attraction of Bulgaria" category were presented by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Irena Georgieva.
"St. Anastasia Island" is an example of a successful revitalization of an object with an interesting past, of transformation into a tourist attraction and a desired cultural scene at the same time. The mandatory part of success is stable development - every year the island expands its capacity as a full-fledged space, now available throughout the year," commented Savateva.
The awards were presented at a ceremony in the Ivan Vazov National Theater on the Day of the People's Awakeners with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Grozdan Karadjov, Deputy Ministers of Culture and Tourism Todor Chobanov and Irena Georgieva, people's representatives, public figures.
